Chicago: The Windy City

Hey y’all! This is obviously my first blog post, and I’ve been gathering content for a long time now. I’m so glad that I finally got the chance to write about my recent travel to Chicago!

Thanks to Martin Luther King Day, I had a long weekend! My friend from Camp Calumet, Maddy, went here last December and has always wanted me to go visit her in Chi-town, as she so avidly calls it. So it was the perfect opportunity for me to do so, though it was kind of short. But hey, we made the most out of it! Connor, on the other hand, was going to visit his best friend Holly, so we weren’t staying at the same place.

Now, let’s go!

It was a nice, short-enough flight. Funny story, Connor and I were both seated on aisle seats, so we were sitting beside each other, but not really. LOL! And so we land! Maddy picked me up with her friend Meredith, and our first stop was The Lincoln Park Zoo! It was the best zoo I’ve ever been to so far. I was so touristy because every section we went to, I was just in pure amazement. I don’t know if it’s a bad thing, but that was the first time I saw a lion, a tiger, penguins, giraffes, an aardvark, and the list goes on. It’s okay to laugh at me, promise I won’t cry! 🙁

I then had a super nice night with Maddy and her friends! Millennium Park was beautiful!

Everyone was taking tourist photos at The Bean, so I had one taken, too! Connor and his best friend in Middle School, Andrew, were also there so we met up and took a lot of photos.

This is random, but Chicago at night is POPPING.

The Riverwalk was another stunning place that we visited, by that time I’ve already fallen deeply in love with Chicago. We also went to The Field Museum which was this really awesome and informative place. I’m not a Science geek nor museum-savvy, but going there made me appreciate the beauty of such places. I forgot to mention that Maddy’s actually all about Science and she cares so deeply about Mother Earth. Way to go, Earth Heroine!

Maddy had some homework to do so Connor and I met up at The Field Museum to explore a little bit more, ate some nice Chinese food, then spent the night together at an arcade. But before the arcade, we actually went to an IMAX Theater to watch La La Land and paid too much money only to find out that it wasn’t even IMAX. So we left. BEST. DECISION. EVER. We had such a great time at the arcade! We got addicted to this game called Zombie Snatcher because it gave us a ton of tickets! Then it was time for us to redeem our tickets, and you know what? We got a Pokemon-themed Monopoly game! I’ve never played Monopoly in my life — yes, boohoo — and I’m so excited for it!

So then I went back to Maddy’s place and slept. My flight was at 5:00AM in the morning and I had to leave at around 3:00AM! When I landed in New York, I went straight to work. After work, rehearsals for a musical I’ll be in — Ragtime.

What a day it was! What an experience, too!
